A Pantomime Of Progress

Treated as naïve spontaneity
Our more savage ambitions would appear
In an increasingly favourable light.
This shift of emphasis concluded,
Some less liberal-minded souls may take it
Upon themselves to correct this circumstance -
Fictionalising our freedom;
Significantly diminishing our capacity for choice;
Silencing these voluminous desires.

The instrumentation of such avarice
Will, in time, collide with the natural arc of fortune:
To be deflected from its grotesque course,
Spiralling unceasing through the void -
A pantomime of progress.
