Harmony

Rising beside you in harmonic dawn,
Morning light to your smile cannot compare.
With each passing moment, again reborn;
Together waking, it matters not where.
Through first rays of light a nightingale sings,
Your hymn of day wanders home to my soul,
Welcoming me, a voice to silence kings.
I claim it as mine, since my heart you stole.
Hours passing slowly within my embrace -
In our ignorance, afternoon enters -
Time is awake but we fail to keep pace.
On you my whole attention is centred.
Tomorrow's face ever turning away,
Embarrassed by riches we share today.
